Hi! I'm a master's student in Chemical Engineering, specializing in physical chemistry. I'm originally from Leiden, did my bachelor's in Wageningen, and recently moved to Eindhoven. I've been reading about effective altruism online for a long time, and am really excited to now help the community in Eindhoven grow. Topics I’m especially interested in are biosecurity and alternative proteins. Things I enjoy doing in my spare time are playing the clarinet, cooking with friends, and reading novels and poetry.
Heya, after having finished my bachelor’s in Biomedical Engineering at TU/e I’m now working on various effective altruism-related projects in the Netherlands. The main one for this academic year will be EA Eindhoven! I’m a generalist at heart who’s fundamentally driven by a desire to understand how this endlessly fascinating and complex world of ours works, and how we can use this understanding to make the world we pass on a better place. I occasionally do windsurfing and am trying to teach myself to play the piano with questionable success.
Hey, I’m a Data Science student excited to be able to put effective theory into altruistic practice. After first getting excited about EA through online resources and then getting my feet with the Utrecht group, I am excited to now be able to help EA Eindhoven flourish. Next to liking programming and all things data related I also take an interest in forecasting and AI (safety). In my free time I like to do (board) sports, and a variety of side projects: If you know how to identify iron content in an alloy non-destructively, contact me!
We are very ambitious about our plans for 2023, which are all aimed at helping students figure out how they can use their careers to best improve the world. We want to launch different subgroups, organize inspiring events, and collaborate with other groups on the TU/e Campus and beyond.
This is why we are looking for new organizers to help strengthen our team.
There are many ways for people to help out, from organizing one-time events or running a subgroup, to becoming a board member and working on the overall strategy of the group.
If you think you might be interested in joining our team, please reach out. Even if you aren't sure whether this is something you'd want to do, we'd be excited to have a chat. We are open to discussing many types of possibilities and look forward to hearing from you!
